Gunta Stölzl was a textile artist that flourished during the Bauhaus movement. She was one of the only Bauhaus female textile masters at the time and her contributions to the field were significant. She helped develop the weaving department at the Bauhaus school with her master technical skills. She became a mentor to many textile artists of the time before becoming the director of the weaving department. I also love her beautiful watercolors that are just as vibrant as the textiles. I have included some of her earlier works, sketches she made for her textiles, fabric swatches and lastly a photograph of Gunta Stölzl at her loom. Her works are part of many museum collections around the world. Hopefully one day I will see them in person.

Stylist Lo Bjurulf
I first heard of this collaboration between Stylist Lo Bjurulf and IKEA on Emmas Designblogg. After a little research I was able to find more images of this project on the IKEA website. The photos I saw blew me away! Her styling really makes the products shine. It really goes to show what you can create with everyday products when you have a vision (and a very talented team to assist). I desperately wish I knew the name of the photographer so I could see more of his work (and give credit!), as I think without the amazing talent of the photographer the themes would not shine as bright! There are different names for the themes. Here are the photos and their names:
HARVEST

PAPER & FOLD (I used google translate so this might not be 100% accurate).

The Selby Collaborates with Louis Vuitton
The Selby and Louis Vuitton have just collaborated on some photos based in different cities. The shots from the cities will be released at different times but the first ones of Paris are up. Here are some shots of the beautiful Vuitton home. It has so many details from the Art Nouveau period which is when the reception rooms were built. They say the rooms remain the same as they were then, 100+ years later....check out that gorgeous ceramic fireplace!

Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott
This well respected duo of photographers have produced an elegant and colorful body of work in the 10 years since they began collaborating as a team. They are incredibly involved in the whole process of making the image; from the look of the model down to the makeup, the outfit, and the set. They manipulate their photos to stunning results and perfection! Here is one of my favorites:

Lisa Solberg
I recently read a short interview with LA based artist Lisa Solberg and was instantly drawn to the use of color and movement in her work. You can find many more beautiful works to feast your eyes on here. Below are a few of her paintings to enjoy!

Weekend Projects
This weekend we had a few mini projects going on. Michael was able to get his plants into the ground and I was able to do a few little pick me ups for our front porch that I have been wanting to do. Here are a few before and after pictures. The main things I did were paint the little chair and table set and the mailbox. Michael also replanted our little rectangular box as everything in there was no longer living. I have high hopes for these new succulents. Also, after many years of oohing and ahhing over beautiful Wisteria's we were finally able to pick one out ourselves. I always loved the lavender colored variety but when I saw this one I knew it was the right one. I think the new paint jobs and plants really help the front look a little more loved and boy does it need it!!

This Morning
Yesterday my friend Courtney showed me an amazing application she had for taking phone pictures. I could not believe how cool the photos were. I told Michael about the pictures but couldn't find anything like that for my phone. He did a little research and was able to find me this incredible application and I have been obsessed ever since. This morning I took over 100+ photos. Sadie is the obvious star today but I couldn't resist. Here are some of the results....

New Rugs
Michael and I were able to get a couple of rugs recently for very good prices. Here are a couple pictures of them. We are thinking of keeping the darker one in this space. They instantly made the house feel more lived in and cozy. We are still kind of shuffling them around and this rainy day is the perfect day to do that.

Couch on the Go!
I love this idea of suitcases that when placed together can form a couch on the go. Very clever!

House Tour
Here are some pictures I took of the gorgeous Casa Daniela in Sayulita. It had so many open spaces, and beautiful tile laid out throughout the house. I loved all the bright colors, textiles, art, and artisan pieces they used to style the house. I wish I had taken more pictures but I felt I was lucky enough to get a spontaneous tour, I didn't want to push my luck. I do think this gives you a good idea of the interior at least!
